I write to keep my brain from exploding!
I grew up being read to and reading great books. Thanks, mom! During undergrad, I wrote a series of short plays and then produced and directed a community performance of them. Two of these short pieces were later published by Brooklyn Publishers (under my maiden name Lauren Denson). I also wrote and read my poetry and short stories within the creative writing community at The University of the Incarnate Word. Several of those pieces were published in The Storyteller, The Writer's Post Journal, and Barbaric Yawp, as well as my university’s publication, Quirk.
I earned my M.A. in English from Texas Tech University, focusing on Early British Literature. I worked briefly as an adjunct for Tarrant County College, before deciding to stay at home with my two wonderful, crazy daughters.
I am currently a member of the DFW Writer’s Workshop and a founding member of the W.H.A.M writing group. Besides reading and writing, I enjoy cooking, pottery, and photography. You can often find me perusing estate sales for antiques and vintage knick-knacks. I am obsessed with true crime podcasts. I don't know how many times I've listened to one late at night and scared myself into not being able to go to sleep. I also have this bad habit of staying up all night to finish a good book.
So that's me, perpetually sleep-deprived and ready for the next adventure!
I am represented by the fabulous Cameron McClure of Donald Maass Literary Agency!
